On Monday 20 October YTN welcomed over 80 young professionals and students from William Angliss Institute and Holmesglen Institute to help polish up their interview skills to ensure they are job ready for the end of semester and the new year.
Richard Kellaway – General Manager and Senior Talent Manager for CRCC TravelJobs and CRC Executive, who specialise in Recruitment for the Travel and Tourism Industry and has been working with CRC for over 20 years. Richard spoke about ‘the interview” and how it is essential to never be late, use your interviewers name and ”smile till your face hurts”. Richard made sure to point out that asking questions about the position is a chance to find out more about the role but also shows that you have researched the company you are applying to work for.
Hannah Hockley – Human Resources Business Partner, IHG. Hannah works with one of the world’s leading hotel companies, IHG, as a strategic Human Resources Business Partner. Hannah works with hotel leaders at InterContinental Melbourne the Rialto to ensure delivery of IHG’s People Strategy. Hannah recently has changed positions and is now working for County Road Group. Hannah highlighted the importance of ensuring you have an up and running LinkedIn profile that showcases your recent work experience and volunteer activity. Hannah made sure to note that it is crucial to have a professional business profile picture as this has been found to increase your profile views!
And last but not least is Luisa Carlei and Amy Pettitt, Team Leaders, Recruitment from Crown. Luisa and Amy know what the industry is looking for in graduates and young professionals. Luisa and Amy made some interesting points on how to increase your phone interview skills and to ensure you know what your strengths are and to also know what your weaknesses are, but remember to always be yourself!
