We believe that decisions about the future of Victoria’s visitor economy workforce should include the voices of those entering it so want to hear from emerging professionals to ensure emerging professionals in our industry have a voice in shaping it.
We’re looking ahead to 2030. We are developing a new strategy to shape the future of the network and strengthen opportunities for Victoria’s next generation of tourism and visitor economy professionals.
YTN is at a critical transition point. With three years of Victorian Government funding confirmed through to FY28. This presents a unique opportunity to define a clear, sustainable and impactful future direction for the organisation.

Emerging Voices in the Visitor Economy Research
This research is here to further understand and highlight the experiences, career aspirations, development needs and challenges facing emerging professionals in Victoria’s visitor economy.
This research will identify opportunities to strengthen industry connections, build capability and advocate for a thriving and sustainable tourism workforce.

This research builds on the 2021 Young Voices in Tourism Research that highlighted the values, needs and perceptions of emerging voices in tourism. The initial research led to the development of the Emerging Tourism Leaders Summit, Launchpad Program and Tourism Ambassador Program as well as employing YTN’s first employee to support these projects.

Join the conversation to shape the future of the Young Tourism Network (YTN).
These roundtables will showcase a cross section of Victoria’s visitor economy workforce to ensure we craft a future that works for everyone.
Who should attend a roundtable?
- Current and past YTN members
- University and TAFE students and teachers
- Tourism Industry professionals from across the visitor economy (e.g. tourism, hospitality, attractions, events management, tour guides, accommodation, destination managers, local and state government)
Roundtable sessions:
10am to 11am on Friday, 13 November (online)
3pm to 4.30pm on Tuesday, 10 November (in person, Melbourne CBD)
5.30pm to 7pm on Tuesday, 10 November (in person, Melbourne CBD)
