Join us for an exclusive chance to reconnect with nature through the perspective of First Nation wisdom, led by Sam May.
Through a journey of identifying significant native plants within Royal Park, participants will gain insights into the Aboriginal plant uses, customs, and ongoing connection to Country. This event is an invitation to appreciate the ancient wisdom and knowledge of Australia’s first Peoples and deepen our understanding of the intricate relationship between the land, its people, and its plants.
More about Sam May
Chef Sam May is a Ballardong Marmun of Nyoogar Boodja on his mother’s side and Gujia on his dad’s side.
Sam is running his own business as an Indigenous culinary consultant, doing Indigenous cooking demos and other ways of showcasing Indigenous ingredients. Sam is also a program coordinator at the National Indigenous Culinary Institute.

2. Acknowledgment of Country (10-15 minutes)
3. Walk and talk including the following topics: traditional use of plants, current use in commercial cookery, use of plants in medicinal and tools practices, and our relationshop and connection to the land (60-90 minutes)
