We are pleased to share a milestone at YTN that underscores our commitment to fostering positive change in Victoria’s tourism industry. We’ve joined forces with the Victorian Government to play a pivotal role in the Worker Attraction and Skills Initiatives for Tourism (WASIT) Grant Program, led by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry, and Regions. This initiative has been funded by the Australian Government via their $7.5 million CHOOSE TOURISM Grant Program to help the states and territories position tourism as a career of choice.
This new partnership underlines our commitment, grown from years of focused advocacy, to address the industry’s workforce challenges head-on. We’re not just highlighting issues; we’re taking actionable steps to enhance career prospects for emerging professionals in tourism.
A Preview of Our Upcoming Initiatives for 2024:
The Return of the Launchpad Program
Following the resounding success of its debut in 2022, YTN is reuniting with Regeneration Projects to present the next iteration of the Launchpad Program. This online training initiative is thoughtfully tailored to benefit both emerging talents and individuals seeking to pivot in their careers.
Emerging Tourism Leaders Summit
The Emerging Tourism Leaders Summit will be a fresh addition to the Victorian visitor economy event calendar. Its core mission is to enlighten delegates about career opportunities in tourism and foster the development of leadership pathways. This summit will take place on 18 June 2024.
YTN Tourism Ambassador Program
This program aims to spotlight the diverse career avenues in tourism and inspire the next generation of industry leaders. We will also be holding in-person professional development events to showcase our ambassadors in a series of panel discussions, workshops, and keynote speaking events.
