How can regenerative thinking support your aspirations to be a tourism changemaker in Naarm Melbourne and afar?
This immersive workshop is a rare opportunity for aspiring and active changemakers in the tourism, hospitality and events sector who are curious about regenerative approaches but not sure where to start.
Internationally recognised thought leader Anna Pollock (The Hive) will be teaming up with Young Tourism Network and Regeneration Projects to tackle pressing social issues like diversity and inclusion, as well as environmental issues like climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution, head on. The workshop will comprise of Anna Pollock sharing some of the basics around how regeneration applies to tourism, we’ll hear from young students and professionals in Melbourne sharing their perspectives on the future of tourism and also learn from an alliance working towards a swimmable Birrarung Yarra River by 2030.
As a group of diverse actors from across industry (from operators, policy-makers, teachers, destination planners, marketeers and community), all participants will then explore what a regenerative Melbourne might look, act and feel like as a destination. This consciously responds to the recently published Young Tourism Network ‘Workplaces Report 2022’, which called for an industry-wide transition to a Purpose beyond Profit and increased intergenerational collaboration.
Don’t miss out, spaces are limited, so book your place now!
Cost:
YTN Members – $40

What could the next generation of hospitality, events and tourism look like in Naarm Melbourne, Australia? How can workers across industry reconnect with the true essence of travel to create benefits for visitors, operators and destinations, now and into the future?
This special industry presentation featuring internationally recognised thought leader Anna Pollock is for progressive tourism, hospitality and events professionals. Anna will be sharing examples from destinations which have implemented regenerative approaches from around the world, including Flanders (Belgium), Aotearoa New Zealand and Ireland.
Hosted by Regeneration Projects in collaboration with William Angliss Institute, Young Tourism Network and The Hive, this event is designed to spark creativity and innovation by showcasing international and homegrown talent. Together we recognise that the conditions for the regeneration of social, cultural, ecological, economic and political systems requires decision-making from Everyone – operators, policy-makers, teachers, destination planners, marketeers and community. Importantly, the Education sector has a unique role to play so we’ll also be hearing how institutions are adapting to changing trends and needs.
