Meet the panellists:

Lauren Cowie, Alba Thermal Springs & Spa

Lauren is a tourism and marketing professional with eight years’ experience in the industry working across Tasmania, Western Australia, South Australia, and Victoria. Passionate about regenerative tourism in regional destinations. She has held roles in destination marketing & sales, group tour coordination, guest services, project management, package & experience development, and event management. My current role as Digital Marketing Specialist at Alba Thermal Springs & Spa is dedicated to positioning Alba as a leading World Class Wellness destination in Australia and driving sustainable industry growth in wellness tourism on the Mornington Peninsula.

She aspires to be a resource for change and an emerging industry leader shaping the future of tourism in Victoria. I have previously held a two year position on the YTN committee and also assisted in creation of the first and second young voices in tourism research papers and was a mentor in the first tourism roadmap program with YTN and regen projects.

Vivian Lyngdoh, Rydges Melbourne

Starting their career in tourism at the Queenstown Resort College, and moving into luxury hospitality, reservations and sales at the likes of Accor Hotels and Air New Zealand Tandem Travel, Vivian’s career has gone from strength to strength. Vivian was the founder of their own creative centric event namely Frills, chaired the Wellington Pride Festival committee, and pivoted to diversity and inclusion initiatives in the New Zealand Public Sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vivian has been actively involved in shaping the future of tourism by participating in committees such as YoungTEC New Zealand and Conference, Incentives of New Zealand (CINZ). Vivian’s efforts and potential were recognised with a nomination as a Rising Star of the Tourism world in New Zealand, a milestone that reflects their passion and contribution to the field. Vivian moved to Melbourne six months ago as Business Development Manager for Rydges Melbourne and is excited to contribute to the vibrant tourism landscape here in Melbourne.

Georgia Guerinet, Qatar Airways

Georgia’s career to date spans various tourism sectors, including hotels, non-profits, and airline marketing. Georgia has a strong background in digital marketing, embraces opportunities for creativity and thrives when working on results-oriented campaigns across all digital platforms. She has over a decade of diverse marketing, brand, partnership, and events experience across Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney.

While at Qantas, Georgia led the charge of rebranding Qantas Rewards Store to Qantas Marketplace from a marketing perspective which involved launching a comprehensive out-of-home and digital campaign. She has recently moved back to Melbourne to take on a role with Qatar Airways as Marketing Manager, South West Pacific & North Asia.

Connect with your fellow emerging tourism network at our first Tourism Ambassador networking night. Learn our panellists’ career stories and learn what it is like working in wine tourism from organising tours to running a winery.

About Sara Lee

Sara made the move from Germany to Australia back in 2013, building her career in operations. But she always had a soft spot for travel and tourism having completed her Bachelors and Masters in Tourism in the UK. So when the time was right, Sara and her husband took things into their own hands and started Hop It. Victoria’s first and only hop on hop off bus service for wine regions currently operating in the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula and the Bellarine.

About Jon Lee

With a career spanning across the hospitality and tourism sector over the past 15 years, Jon has cultivated a deep passion for providing unparalleled customer service and genuine hospitality. From his early days as a waiter to his current role as a respected industry leader and business owner of Hop It, Victoria’s first and only hop on hop off service for wine regions, Jon’s journey was one of many challenges, learnings and growth.

About Daniel Tokar

Daniel manages Tokar Estate in the Yarra Valley, growing the business and undertaking new ventures, whilst still maintaining the family-owned atmosphere. Sitting on the board for Yarra Ranges Tourism and the President of the Smaller Wineries Association, Daniel has a solid understanding of not only the wine industry but tourism as well, this is where Daniel’s passions lie.

About Ovarn Brown

Ovarn worked in the tourism industry in Jamaica, before migrating to Australia in 2016. Whilst living in the Yarra Valley, Ovarn developed a passion for wine. He started working at Payten & Jones cellar door. Which led to vineyard and cellar hand work. Eventually, he became an assistant winemaker.

In 2021, Ovarn developed his first wine label for Payten & Jones. Inspired by his Jamaican roots – it is named Dutty Wine. He is currently studying Landscape Gardening at the Box Hill Institute. His ambition is to continue working in both areas of wine making and viticulture.
