Young people in tourism, events and hospitality are more likely to dissuade someone from working in the visitor economy rather than recommending our industry.
At this critical time, we need to rethink how young people are engaged in tourism.
The recent Young Voices in Tourism report released by Young Tourism Network and Regeneration Projects identifies a growing gap between the values of young people in the visitor economy and the industry in which they work.
Join Young Tourism Network to unpack the report’s findings and learn how the industry needs to evolve to attract young talent back. You’ll also hear from Founder & CEO of Regeneration Projects, Matt Sykes, on the purpose-driven leaders he is collaborating with who are taking their projects and organisations to the next level of impact.
Visit Victoria’s Nic Cooper, Erica Johnson and Andrea Bolton will also share the objectives and activities of the Good Natured Alliance. The Good Natured Alliance was formed in 2021 with representatives from Visit Victoria, MCB and Major Events to discuss, identify, propose and implement positive sustainable and social impact initiatives both internally and externally aiming to move towards positive change across the Victorian tourism industry.
These crucial insights will provide a snapshot of young people’s perceptions of working in tourism, events and hospitality, with recommendations and practical examples of how the industry, operators and government can work together to harness a critical workforce for our industry.
