John O’Sullivan – Walks101
John got his start in the travel industry a decade ago after he forgot to return home after a gap year abroad. For nearly a decade, John has given tours on busses, boats, ferries, and foot in 28 countries in Europe, the USA and now Australia. He’s worked with companies such as Busabout, Sail Croatia, Expat Explore, Intrepid and Sandemans New Europe.
In 2017, John started Walks 101 with the mission to bring the popular European concept of the “Free Walking Tour” to Australia. In just two years it has grown into one of Melbourne’s largest operators, and is preparing for expansion to other Aussie capital cities.
John will share the story of how he built his business, give insights into how to start a travel company, and answer questions from the audience.
Kathryn Farrell & Melissa Tuliranata – Co-founder Trashbags on Tour
Kat & Mel’s working life has crossed paths more than once.
Both working in the tourism, travel and events industries they have connected, through their workplaces, their love of travelling, and learning from different walks of life.
The creation of Trash Bags On Tour was born in a day when they shared their hobby of picking up rubbish along the beach, and the desire to spread awareness to a greater audience of what’s happening to our marine life.
Within 1 month they ran their first environmental educational tourism event to the Great Ocean Road and since have successfully ran community days, corporate social responsibility days, youth programs and tours and are so excited for what the future will bring and what message they can share.
They believe that from little things, big things grow and the story of how they came to be where they are today shows this perfectly.
